Know Before You Go

  • Have a question during your visit? You can talk to any Visitor Experience Team Member! Look for the people dressed in black with red lanyards who can help you with questions about your visit, the art, and more. We have team members who speak multiple languages, including Spanish, Italian, Amharic, Mandarin, and French—look for a pin on their lanyard indicating the languages they speak.
  • Access digital resources during your visit! Bring your headphones and use our mobile museum guide (no download required) to access content, including family activities, free audio tours, visitor guides, maps, and more.
  • Bag check at The Broad is limited, so pack lightly for your visit! We encourage visitors to leave large bags at home whenever possible. All backpacks must be worn on the front of your body during your visit to keep the artwork safe. Please remember to retrieve any checked items before you leave the museum.
  • No food or beverages permitted inside the museum.
  • To help make sure The Broad is a place for reflection and inspiration for all, please adhere to our visitor policies and be respectful of fellow visitors and our team.

Accessibility

The Broad is committed to making its collection, exhibitions, building, events, and services accessible to all visitors. The museum is wheelchair accessible, and a limited number of wheelchairs are available free of charge in the lobby on a first come, first served basis. The Broad provides accessible parking on P1 of the museum's parking garage for vehicles displaying valid, state-issued disability parking placards or license plates.

Large-print gallery notes and audio tour transcripts are available free of charge. Ask any Visitor Experience Team Member upon arrival.

Sensory kits, including noise-reducing headphones and sensory touch items, are available upon request. 

We are always looking to enhance the museum's accessibility. If you have any suggestions or recommendations on how to make The Broad more accessible, please share them with us at info@thebroad.org.

To enjoy the museum and keep the artworks safe, please respect the following rules:

  • Children of all ages are welcome to visit The Broad. Those under 13 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Do not touch the art.
  • No smoking anywhere inside or on the property, including the outdoor plaza.
  • Keep mobile phones and other devices on silent. Please limit talking on mobile phones to non-gallery spaces.
  • Single-wide, standard baby strollers are permitted in the museum, but are not permitted on escalators.
  • Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times.
  • Verbally abusive, harassing, discriminatory, or threatening statements or behavior toward Broad staff and other visitors is prohibited. The Broad reserves the right to require visitors who do not follow our policies to leave the museum immediately

The Broad reserves the right to not allow any bag, parcel, or other item to be brought into the museum, and to deal with any unattended object in such a way as we consider appropriate. The Broad also reserves the right to deny admission to or remove any person wearing attire that we consider inappropriate or that could detract from the experience of other visitors.

Planning Your Visit FAQ

Yes! Standard strollers are welcome, and baby bottles are permitted in the galleries (but please note, no other food or drink is allowed in the museum). Please bring your baby supplies in bags smaller than 11 x 17 x 8 in. Baby changing tables are available in a single or family use restroom and the women’s restroom on Level 1.

We have a new family guide available on our mobile museum guide (no download required) with activities for kids and adults to do together. The mobile museum guide also has a free kid’s audio tour featuring LeVar Burton (host of the children’s educational program, Reading Rainbow), which encourages young art lovers to look, listen, and learn.

We’re sorry—food and beverages aren’t allowed inside the museum. Please leave food and beverage items in the car or at home or dispose of them in a trash can outside of the museum.

The Broad is:

  • Closed Monday
  • Open Tuesday, Wednesday, & Friday, 11 a.m.–5 p.m., Thursday 11 a.m.–8 p.m., and Saturday–Sunday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.

The Broad is closed on Thanksgiving & Christmas Day.

Yes, they are located on the first and second floors near the restrooms.

Yes! Our standby line is open. Wait times vary due to museum capacity, but you can expect to get in within 15–30 minutes on weekdays.We also release extra tickets daily. Visit ticketing.thebroad.org in the evening, after 4:30pm, for your best chance to reserve tickets for the following day.

Don’t worry! Visitors with tickets for free general admission or paid special exhibitions can enter the museum up to 1 hour after the time printed on your ticket. Please note that we stop admitting visitors 30 minutes before the museum closes. Late arrivals may experience a wait time if the museum is at full capacity.

However, visitors with a ticket for "Infinity Mirrored Room + General Admission" are advised to arrive on time. Entry into Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room is only guaranteed within 10 minutes of your ticketed time.

The Broad is committed to welcoming a wide and diverse audience, including those assisted by trained service animals. The Broad complies with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA), which defines service animals as a dog that has been individually trained to do work or perform tasks for an individual with a disability. The task(s) performed by the dog must be directly related to the person’s disability. The Broad allows service dogs in all public areas of the museum.

The Broad does not allow Emotional Support Animals (ESA) inside the museum. Emotional Support Animals, Comfort Animals, or Therapy Animals which provide comfort do not qualify as service animals under the ADA.

The following questions may be asked of each visitor with a service dog:

  • Is the service dog required because of a disability?
  • What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?

If the dog is out of control or not housebroken, the handler will be asked to remove the dog from the museum.

Yes! The Shop is open the same hours as the museum. We hope you’ll stop by The Shop and take home something special to remind you of your visit to The Broad. You can also shop anytime online at shop.thebroad.org.

Our coat/bag check is limited, so pack lightly for your visit! Please leave large bags, backpacks, and other items bigger than 11 x 17 x 8 inches at home or in the car. Visitors with babies should bring baby supplies in bags smaller than 11 x 17 x 8 in. All backpacks must be worn on the front of your body during your visit to keep the artwork safe.

You are welcome to take photographs and smart phone video for personal use only, unless signage indicates that no photography is allowed. Drawing with pencil in the galleries is also permitted with sketchbooks no larger than 11 x 7 inches. 
 
The Broad does NOT permit photo or film shoots for commercial or promotional purposes. We do not permit flash photography or video lighting at any time, monopods, tripods, video cameras, easels, or selfie sticks.

Booking Advance Tickets FAQ

Both General Admission and Infinity Mirrored Room + General Admission tickets are released monthly on the last Wednesday at 10 am PT for visiting the following month.

  • Wednesday, October 30 for Tuesday, November 5 – Sunday, January 5  
     
  • Wednesday, December 18th for Tuesday, January 7th – Sunday, February 2nd 
     
  • Wednesday, January 29th for Tuesday, February 4th – Sunday, March 2nd 
     
  • Wednesday, February 26th for Tuesday, March 4th – Sunday, March 30th 
     
  • Wednesday, March 26th for Tuesday, April 1st – Sunday, May 4th 
     
  • Wednesday, April 30th for Tuesday, May 6th – Sunday, June 1st

General admission to The Broad is always free! Some special exhibitions carry a separate charge.

Tickets have entry times beginning every 15 minutes. Early entry is not allowed (visitors will be admitted into the museum at the time printed on their ticket). Entry for general admission and special exhibitions is not guaranteed if you arrive more than 1 hour after your ticketed time. Entry for visitors with tickets to see Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrored Room is only guaranteed within the first 10 minutes of your ticketed time.

You can reserve up to 6 “General Admission” tickets at a time. “Infinity Mirrored Room + General Admission” tickets that include access to Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrored Room are limited to 4 tickets per group.

Yes, please book a ticket for each child who can walk. Children who will be in a stroller or who will be carried do not need a ticket. Children 13 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.

Yes, it is not a problem for a different person to use a general admission ticket with your name if you will be checking in separately.
