Tickets Free | Advance Reservations Recommended

Overview

Advance reservations for this program are closed. Walk-up admission is available on a first-come, first-served basis (as capacity allows) the day of the event.

The Broad's Family Weekend Workshops offer free art-focused activities and cooking demonstrations from acclaimed chef Timothy Hollingsworth's Otium restaurant, located next to the museum.

Workshops give families the opportunity to make their own souvenirs to take home, inspired by works in the Broad collection. Family Weekend Workshops are free but have limited availability. Entrance is not guaranteed without a reservation.

Families who reserve tickets in advance will receive wristbands when they check in onsite at the museum. Additional timed tickets for cooking demonstrations will also be available at check-in. Workshops and timed tickets for cooking demonstrations will be available to families with wristbands on a first-come, first-served basis.

Family Weekend Workshops are for families with children ages 3 and up.

Carlos Cruz-Diez

Visit Carlos Cruz-Diez's brightly colored ephemeral intervention, Couleur Additive, at the corner of Grand Avenue and 2nd Street, then explore color interaction by making original designs with markers, clear film, and a paper cutout. Using Cruz-Diez's additive color principles, families will make their own sample of a Color Additive.

Transform Yourself!

Remake yourself using some of the techniques applied by artists Takashi Murakami and Keith Haring, whose interest in toys, anime, video games, iconic linear shapes and pulsing movement, are on view in the Broad collection. You'll take away a one-of-a-kind photograph!

Recycle and Accessorize

Inspired by El Anatsui's large quilt-like works in the Broad collection, you will create your own wearable statement piece made from the discarded and recycled materials which make up the "fabric" of our lives, and follow Anatsui's vision connecting consumption, waste and the environment.

Family Pop-Up Talks

Join Visitor Services Associates in the third floor galleries for family-friendly pop-up talks on artists such as Jeff Koons, Andy Warhol, Barbara Kruger and more.
