THE BROAD
The Broad’s mission is to make contemporary art accessible to the widest possible audience. Founded in 2015 on Grand Avenue in downtown Los Angeles by philanthropists Eli and Edythe Broad, the museum offers free general admission and presents an active program of special exhibitions and innovative live events, all within a landmark building designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro. The Broad is home to the Broad collection, one of the world’s leading collections of postwar and contemporary art, which continues to grow as new artists and artworks are added. The museum is the headquarters of The Broad Art Foundation’s worldwide lending library, which has been loaning collection works to museums around the world since 1984. To create greater public access, The Broad will break ground on a 55,000 square-foot expansion in early 2025.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Senior Finance Accountant plays a crucial role in supporting all teams to meet The Broad's internal and external financial reporting obligations. This position is responsible for reviewing all payables and payroll transactions, preparing financial statements, reconciling general ledger accounts including investments, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Assist in accounting oversight of the investment portfolio, including analysis, reconciliation, and performance reporting
Accounting Operations
- Prepare and review monthly journal entries
- Conduct monthly general ledger reconciliations, including bank, fixed asset, prepaid and deferred activity
- Process investment transactions
- Prepare and submit quarterly sales tax returns
- Review and approve bi-weekly payroll reports
Special Projects and Support
- Execute financial special projects as needed
- Provide support to the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Finance in accounting and investment functions
Compliance and Risk Management
- Assist with insurance renewal applications
- Ensure adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Support regulatory reporting requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and or minimum 4 years of senior level accounting in a complex institution.
- 5+ years of experience in financial reporting and analysis
- Proficiency in preparing GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to handle large volumes of data
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
- Experience in non-profit accounting (preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to remain stationary as well as frequently move around public areas of the museum for extended periods of time.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed both inside the museum and outdoors. This role requires both remaining stationary as well as frequently moving about the museum galleries to assist visitors through the museum, protect the safety of the artwork, answer questions, and provide a range of information to guests.
SCHEDULE
Work is usually performed onsite between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Employees can expect to work 40 hours per week onsite.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Annual salary of $72,000 - $90,000
